Construction Safety Week
Construction Safety Week is a week-long event held each May across the United States construction industry. Hundreds of contractors pause work for stand-downs, toolbox talks, demonstrations and site events built on a shared annual theme, and the week carries OSHA's fall-prevention stand-down. The organisers announce the dates each year, so check them rather than assuming a fixed week.
The organiser has not announced the next dates. This page will carry them as soon as Construction Safety Week publishes them.
When it falls
Dates are announced by the organiser each year.
- Construction Safety Week 2026 — 4–8 May 2026 Confirmed
- Construction Safety Week 2025 — 5–9 May 2025 Confirmed
Also known as: Safety Week, CSW.
Where it came from
Construction Safety Week started in 2014 as an industry-wide week in which contractors, their clients and their business partners stop work to recommit to sending every worker home safely. It is run by an executive committee of large contractors with a technical committee of safety specialists, and it partners with OSHA each year so that the National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls sits inside the week. The organisers announce the dates and headline theme a few months ahead rather than following a fixed calendar rule.
First observed in 2014.
How organisations mark it
- Download the year's planning kit and daily topics and schedule one for each morning of the week.
- Join the industry-wide fall-prevention stand-down held with OSHA during the week.
- Hold a jobsite event with craft workers, trade partners and the client, not just management.
- Use the technical bulletins to review high-energy hazards and the direct controls in place for them.
- Download the certificate of participation and recognise the crews who took part.
