Early Career / Young Professional Award

Outline of the Award

The Early Career/Young Professional Award has been created to highlight the great work presented at the Virtual Pre-Conference Global Injury Prevention Showcase 2021 and recognise the contribution presenters have to the program and injury prevention and safety promotion sector.

Short List

Abstracts submitted for the Virtual Pre-Conference Global Injury Prevention Showcase 2021 will be reviewed against the award criteria below and five (5) abstracts will be shortlisted as finalist in the abstract presentation awards. If selected as a finalist, the pre-recoded presentation must be uploaded by Sunday 28 February 2021, 11:59pm AEDT for the presentation to be reviewed.

The five award finalists will be highlighted in the Showcase Program.

Eligibility for Awards

The Early Career/Young Professional Award is presented to the individual who is a young professional, a trainee or early in their public health or injury prevention/safety promotion career. The presenter must be the first author on the presentation and the main presenter.

In addition, the pre-recorded presentation must be of good quality, accessible through use of imagery and audio, be dynamic and engaging, and have clear key messages and outcomes.

• Abstract Title (maximum of 12 words)

• Maximum of 300 words;

• [Context and aim];

• [Methods and analysis/research findings];

• [Translational outcomes];

• [Future actions];

• Translation to policy and/or practice change;

• Present a long oral, rapid fire or conversation starter presentation, via pre-recorded video, maximum of specified time; and

• Abstracts should address the showcase theme and be submitted in accordance with the abstract submission guidelines.

Abstract presenters will be assessed against their abstract review result and then their presentation.

Award Marking

​

The Showcase Advisory Committee will appoint reviewers for the Virtual Pre-Conference Global Injury Prevention Showcase 2021 to review the abstract presentations and mark them against set criteria. The winner of the award will be announced in the closing session on Friday 26 March 2021.

The award will have 5 finalists who will be marked against 5 criteria graded between 1-5, from the scores an average mark will be calculated and ranked against the other presentations to determine the successful presentation.

Finalist pre-recorded presentations must be uploaded by Sunday 28 February 2021, 11:59pm AEDT for the presentation to be reviewed.

Awards Presentation

​

The winner of the award will be announced in the closing session on Friday 26 March 2021.

The winner will receive the following recognition:

• Registration to attend the World Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion in 2022; and 

• A certificate
